My due date is now only 30 days away (and only 25 days until my original due date)! In some ways, it feels like I've been pregnant forever. I mean, with this long winter doesn't June seem like forever ago? But at the same time, I can't believe how soon I'll be holding baby girl in my arms! Yikes, I better finish finding all the baby things and getting them ready and Matt and I actually need to decide on a name for her!
{Today, @ 35 weeks and 5 days}
I have had lots of morning sickness this pregnancy. I mean a lot! (So, I am going to spend a very long time telling you about it so you will feel sorry for me. :) Actually, I think I just want to write it down so the next time I think I want to get pregnant, I will have something to remind me of how fun pregnancy can be :)) And, of course, not just in the morning, but at various wonderful times throughout the day and at night. In fact, the other day Mason (who is 1 1/2) saw/heard me gagging and brought me a plastic grocery sack for me to throw up in. That's how common place my puking has been around here this pregnancy. Looks like its gonna last the entire pregnancy but at least its not as bad as it used to be. The first part of my pregnancy, I felt good. I was even able to visit my sister and family in Guatemala in the beginning of August without any morning sickness (the only times I threw up were from motion sickness in the car while driving in the mountains). What a blessing it was to be able to enjoy that time without having to worry about the nausea! But, by the end of August, I had it bad. I started off just getting sick a few times a day. We went out on Layla's birthday and I started off feeling ok, but by the time her party was over that night, I'd already thrown up several times. And then I didn't leave the house for over two weeks. I was so nauseous, I spent the entire time either in bed, on the couch, or in the bathroom throwing up (5-10 times a day, so definitely over a hundred times in those two plus weeks). It was miserable! The only reason I finally did leave the house was because I had my doctor's appointment and I was desperately hoping she could give me something to help. I had a lot of nausea with my last two pregnancies but nausea medicine made all the difference. This time, it only mildly helped. I was able to get off the couch but still very nausea throughout the day and still lots of vomiting for the next 10 weeks. And it was always worse when I left the house. Almost every single time I got in the car or was at my parents house or church, or wherever, I threw up at least once. I didn't drive a car for over two months. And then, on the last day of October, all of the sudden I had a good day. Out of the blue, I had little to no nausea. Finally, and end to the morning sickness. Or so I thought. It was actually just a 3-week break before the nausea returned but it had improved so it was more manageable. I still get nauseous and vomit several days a week, but I get over it pretty quick. I have heard that women who are nauseous throughout their pregnancies are likely to throw up during delivery so I have that to look forward to, but I figure this morning sickness stuff is almost all behind me now.
Baby Girl is so very active! Matt got to feel her move for the first time on Thanksgiving and she has not slowed down since. She is a wiggle worm! And lately she's gotten the hiccups often. At a recent check-up, she apparently didn't want her heart rate checked and kept moving away from the monitor or kicking hard enough to move it. Doing my fetal kick counts is a breeze! She is still riding very high and likes to bump into my ribs. And if you want to know how it feels to bend over and pick something up, just stick a basketball above your stomach and give it a try.
The girls are so excited for her arrival. Jade, being the oldest and most patient, has gotten to feel her kick a lot and got to feel her hiccups the other day. Layla has felt her kick, but the other day when I asked her if she wanted to feel the baby kick she sweetly responded, "No, thanks." She is always praying to help baby to come out of my tummy soon, though. Mason is clueless. When I say anything about the baby in my tummy, he usually wants to show me his belly button or find mine. But I guess he'll figure it out soon enough. He LOVES babies so I think he's going to spend less time being jealous of me holding the baby because he wants to be hold as opposed to being jealous that I am the one holding the baby and not him! But we shall see.
Looking forward to sharing pictures with you of our baby girl in the next month or so. <3
